1. The most efficient transmission system is one-to-one drive

The advantage of this drive is not just prevention of transmission losses. The drive motor and the airend are joined by the coupling and its housing into a compact and durable unit that needs no regular maintenance except for greasing of the motor bearings. Should the coupling ever need to replaced it takes just a few minutes without any disassembly of the unit. The opening in the coupling housing is more than sufficient for exchange of the two coupling sections.



2. The airend with the SIGMA Profile

Basically, a certain drive power can be transferred with a small airend at high speed or with a large airend at low speed. Large, low speed airends are more efficient. They supply more air for the same drive power. That’s why we've spared no effort in developing a series of airends for the DSD packages of sizes matched to the individual drive power and to a low drive speed of 1500 rpm. The user's investment in large airends is quickly returned because of the energy savings made.

3. The innovative radial fan

The most important characteristics of a radial fan could be described as quietness and efficiency. The low noise emission is achieved with low peripheral speeds. The power requirement is around 50 per cent below a comparable axial fan. Another advantage of the radial fan is the high reserve of ventilator thrust (stable characteristic curve) , that allows exhaust ducting with a pressure drop of up to 150 Pa to be fitted without the need for an extra fan.

4. Our novel air cooling system

The system has other advantages than just better cooling efficiency: Cooling air is draw through the cooler into the cooler box and then exhausted directly upwards. The inside of the cabinet is not dirtied by the main cooling air flow. Dirt in the cooling air is captured mainly at the cooling air inlet side of the cooler, which is, on DSD packages, on the outside. Clogging is easy to see and is easily removed without dismantling the cooler. Operational reliability is increased and servicing costs are reduced.

5. An optimized separator system

DSD packages are fitted with a new, efficient separator system. The cooling fluid is initially separated from the air to a large extent by centrifugal flow in the separator tank. Because of this initial separation only a minimum of fluid enters the new, improved deep-bed filter in the separator cartridge. These two factors double the service life of the separator cartridge in comparison with previous systems and ensure minimum aerosol content in the compressed air. This means better air quality and less work for air treatment components downstream. Monitoring and indication of the pressure drop across the separator cartridge is another contribution to efficient operation.

6- SIGMA FLUID PLUS, the new cooling fluid

SIGMA FLUID PLUS has extended the fluid change intervals to over 9000 service hours without increasing the quantity of fluid in the airend. But it's not just the longer intervals that save hard cash. The lower vapor pressure of SIGMA FLUID PLUS compared with mineral oils reduces consumption. That's why the proportion of cooling fluid in the condensate is significantly lower. The low tendency toward build-up of emulsion guarantees simple and reasonably priced condensate treatment. That means lower disposal costs.

7- Simple cooling fluid change

Changing the cooling fluid is simple, fast and there's no mess using proven system that has been retained for the new DSD packages. The cooling fluid can be drained into a container via a hose that is connected to the quick disconnect coupling on the separator tank. The hose is supplied as part of the package. This process is aided by the pressure built up in the tank before shutting down. The advantage to you is shorter downtime and lower servicing costs.

8-The easy-to-use control system

DSD packages are fitted with the proven CONTROL system. It monitors all internal filters, airend discharge temperature and the drive motor. If any limits are exceeded this is promptly indicated by LEDs and icons, initiating, if necessary, automatic shutdown. The working hour and load hour meters provide information on the percentage of utilization of the compressor package. Pressure in the separator tank and the airend discharge temperature can be read off even if power has been removed. The Emergency Stop pushbutton is located conveniently and is easily accessible.

CONTROL

Automatically shuts down the compressor unit at excess airend discharge temperature, overcurrent in the drive motor, wrong direction of rotation, or malfunctioning power transmission.

CONTROL warns if the differential pressures on the air filter, coolant filter separator cartridges are too high. All warning and shutdown alarm functions are represented by self-explaining icons. (AS-CS). Alarms are clearly indicated by LEDs.

From ES upwards the compressors are additionally provided with a PTC thermistor sensor in the drive motor.

2- Reliable V-belt drive with auto supervision

Its main characteristics are extremely quiet running, optimum power transfer, long service life and minimum maintenance costs thanks to its automatic tensioning. The transfer ratio is variable so that a 10 bar unit is easily changed to 8 bar and vice-versa.

3-Swing-out cooler

The excellent cooling in our screw compressors is achieved with high intensity air flow. Cooling air from the atmosphere carries various contaminants, but these are removed by highly effective filter mats to prevent clogging of the cooler. In addition, the swing out cooler eases cleaning considerably (BS to FS series). Thus, maintenance effort is effectively reduced.
4- A prime mover of quality

IP 54: protected against dust and splash water. Insulation class F: additional reserves of performance under difficult thermal conditional.

5- Maintenance-free piping with AEROQUIP connectors

We set the trend: complete piping within the compressor package. also uses the flexible but solid AEROQUIP pipe connectors eliminating fractures and stress breaks at welded or threaded flanges.

6-Higly effective coolant separation

Cooling fluid injected into the airend during compression must then be removed from the air. This is done by a special three stage separator system. The first stage, the separator tank, removes a large part of the coolant using centrifugal and gravitational forces.

A highly efficient separator cartridge comprises the second and third stages. In this cartridge the finest coolant components are filtered. The result is fluid carry-over in the compressed air of only 3mg/m³ .

7- Greasing system

The grease nipples for the drive motor bearings are accessible externally (BS - HS). That means less maintenance effort.

8- IP 54 control cabinet

Only robust and quality components are used. Any electrician can test and/or exchange these standard components, if needed. The most important features are: increased safety using a reduced control voltage (230 V) and tidy control cabinet components; star-delta starter fitted from 4KW drive motor power upwards. The compressors are fitted with DUAL Control for full load-off load running-standstill mode. If the air demand fluctuates heavily we recommend QUADRO Control, a system that reduces the off load running periods.

On request we can supply your compressors fitted with high grade Siemens PLC systems. Our compressors can be integrated into your automated equipment without problem using these systems.

9- Filter mats for the cooling air

These are standard only on machines. (SX-DS). The cooling and airend inlet air are pre-filtered. This means that the inside of the cabinet and the inlet air filter stay clean longer. This increases filter efficiency. The main advantage to you as a user is noticeably longer maintenance intervals for the filter and cooler.

The advantages are obvious – significantly lower maintenance costs and increased operating life of the airend.
